Mobile Touchdown Club

On January 23, 1948, the incorporators of the Mobile Touchdown Club proclaimed in the original By-Laws that "the Society is promote the development or betterment of the community of Mobile, Alabama, by encouraging and promoting athletic and recreational activities among the youth of the community of Mobile." Our founders recognized that there was a need for this organization to exist so that the youth of Mobile would be afforded opportunities in sports that they might not otherwise enjoy. And now, our purpose remains unchanged and the need is greater than ever.

Since our Club's founding, we have provided nearly $2,000,000 to the City of Mobile Recreation Department and numerous other youth groups to carry out our mission.

Funding Information

Since Mobile Touchdown Clubs founding, it has provided over $2,000,000 to the City of Mobile Recreation Department and numerous other youth groups to carry out our mission. Although the funding has been substantial, each year the funding ability falls substantially short of the funding requests. In an effort to enhance funding, the Board of Directors appointed a long-range planning committee to study alternative funding methods to meet and satisfy the needs of the community's youth organizations.

The Mobile Touchdown Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Some organizations which have received financial support in the past are: AL/Miss All Star Classic, Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama, City of Mobile Parks & Recreation, Junior Golf Association, Mobile Bay Bears, Mobile Soccer Club, Salvation Army, Wilmer Hall, and YMCA Summer Camps.
